An examination of the international context of artistic modernism between 1908 and 1916 by the leading American Malevich scholar Charlotte Douglas, in particular the development in Russia of Suprematism, Malevich’s geometric abstract art. Beginning with the “Modern Trends” exhibition in Saint Petersburg, Douglas surveys Russian art, its organizations and influences, from Post-Impressionism , to the Cubo-Futurist opera “Victory Over the Sun,” to the public presentation of Suprematism at the “0.10” exhibition in December 1915. This publication is a Kindle version of the 1980 book of the same name.
