Knowing the play very well, I bought the film script for my aspiring film director grandson who is writing and rewriting a story for a film of his own. His story is set in the same time period as the Crucible. Miller handles the dialogue of the time extremely well. Furthermore, the introduction written by Miller illustrates the problems encountered in writing a film script as opposed to a play for theater. The director wrote an introduction, too, outlining the actual process of making the film. I felt both of these accounts plus the example of the script itself might encourage my young man.
